Facts about eye conditions

In the UK, there are around 2 million people who are living with a level of sight loss which has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of these, around 360,000 people are registered as blind or partially sighted.

There are a number of reasons why people experience sight loss. The leading causes in the UK are as follows:

Age-related Macular Degeneration

One of the leading causes of sight loss among older people in the UK is Age-related Macular Degeneration. It is estimated that over 2 million people, who are 65 or over, are living with the early stages of the disease.
