Using Technology
We know that when you have sight loss, using technology is often linked to age. Research has found that younger people with sight loss are much more likely to use computers and mobile phones than people who are older.
It has been found that around three-quarters of blind and partially sighted people aged 18–64 say that they use a computer, compared to under half of those aged 65 and over. In addition, nearly nine out of ten blind and partially sighted people aged 65 and over have never used the internet.
Finally, around 85 per cent of blind and partially sighted people aged 18-64 say that they use a mobile phone, compared to around two-thirds of those aged 65 and over.
