EE SIM Card

All you need to know about the FREE SIM card included with every Phone, SIM-Enabled Tablet, and PLUS Smartwatch!

When purchasing a suitable Synapptic product, an EE Pay-As-You-Go SIM card with £10 initial credit is included for FREE! The credit is in the form of a Bundle, which includes 8GB of data, unlimited texts and 500 minutes of calls. The Bundle lasts for 30 days. After this, any unused data, calls and text allowances will be lost.

To continue using the SIM card, it will need to be topped up.

There are several ways to top up the credit on the SIM card. 1) Call 0845 412 2277 from any phone. 2) Use the ee website at ee.co.uk/topup. 3) Call 150 (free from the watch). 4) Buy a voucher at a local shop, then text the letters ‘VO’ followed by a space and the voucher code to 150.

If you top up with £10 credit or more before the Bundle expires, the Bundle will automatically renew by using the credit.

If you top up with £10 credit after the Bundle expires, the Bundle will not renew and calls and text will be charged at the standard PAYG rate (35p per minute for calls, 15p per text message and 10p per MB of data).

If you want to add credit before the Bundle expires but don’t want another Bundle, just text STOP PACK to 150 before topping up. The current Bundle will continue to work until it’s expiry, after which calls, texts and data will be charged at the standard PAYG rate.

If not using a Bundle, calls, texts and data are charged at quite an expensive rate. Any mobile data used for software updates and weather updates in the background will soon spend all the available credit (when away from your home Wifi). To stop the watch from using mobile data, and save money, mobile data an be turned off in the Android settings – but this will mean that weather updates will not work when away from your home Wifi. Please contact us if you need help configuring this setting.

When using the PAYG SIM on standard rates a call or text must be sent every 179 days. If not, the SIM card may go into hibernation and will stop working and the number lost shortly afterwards. EE will send a reminder text message after 60 days on inactivity.

The PAYG SIM card will work in European countries, but you have to purchase a “Roam Like Home” package from EE. This typically costs £10 for 7 days and allows you to use your UK call minutes/texts/data in Europe – but calls, texts and data will cost double the standard PAYG rate!

All Synapptic devices use a nano sized SIM card. The supplied EE SIM card comes with an adaptor so it can also be used in devices that require a micro or large sized SIM card.

Alternative options to a PAYG SIM Card

1) 12-Month PAYG Deal

1pMobile.com offer a SIM card that lasts for a whole year. It doesn’t timeout or stop working, even if not used for long periods. Their £48 yearly PAYG SIM card included 500MB of data every month (enough for weather updates and software updates on the watch), unlimited UK calls and unlimited UK text messages. 1pMobile use the EE network, so have great coverage across the UK.
When outside of the UK, charges for calls, texts and data are very similar to when in the UK – just slightly more expensive. See the 1pMobile.com website for details.

2) SIM-Only Contract
Contract SIM cards are paid for monthly by direct debit and give the best value for money when making more use of calls, text and mobile data. You never need to worry about topping up credit as it’s taken by direct debit each month. They typically cost about £10 per month and include unlimited calls, unlimited texts and a large amount of data.

When travelling abroad, a contract SIM will also provide the best value for money, compared to PAYG.
