Overview of VAT information
If you have a disability and you’re buying goods for your own personal or domestic use, you may be able to claim VAT relief on certain goods. What’s more, you don’t need to be registered disabled, have a doctors note or be eligible for any other benefit to qualify for VAT-free goods.
Which goods qualify for VAT relief?
In general, HMRC defines these as any goods which have been ‘designed solely for disabled people.’ Synapptic products, which are eligible for VAT relief, include Synapptic Software, Synapptic phone and Synapptic tablet packages and some of our accessories.
How do I claim VAT relief on Synapptic products?
When you place an order for any Synapptic products which qualify for VAT relief, firstly we’ll confirm with you if you’re eligible for VAT relief. We’ll then make the necessary VAT deduction before confirming the price you’ll need to pay.
If you’re ordering online, you’ll need to tick a box at checkout to confirm you’re eligible for VAT relief.
We’ll then send you an Eligibility Declaration Form with your order, which you’ll need to complete and return to us. We’re required to do this by HMRC, to confirm you’re eligible for VAT relief. If you don’t return the form, we may need to invoice you for the VAT relief that was deducted when you placed your order.
